If Carrie Bradshaw seemed to always fall for the wrong man (or so she said), I seemed to always have signed up with the wrong dentist. But it’s all about to change, HA!
Let me tell you my story: As A child, I remembered having my baby teeth removed without proper treatment. My 1st dentist left me with major swollen & bleeding gum. I forgot about the pain now, but I remembered how hard Ivonne tried to distract me from my pain with her funny jokes & tricks, and how my aunt was really panicking.
As a teenager, after 3.5 years of wearing brace, the day had finally come when I had all my braces taken off. It was supposed to be a very liberating day. But I remembered looking in the mirror, and noticed that I still have this bunny tooth (uneven, popping upwards kinda tooth) in the lower incisor row. When I mentioned this to my dentist ( who was supposed to be one of the most sought after dentists in town at that time), he quickly & coldly said: “Well, that’s how it is! If you want to get it neat, just wear these braces for the rest of your life!” So up to this day, I still have my bunny tooth. Thanks to my 2nd dentist.
As an adult, I’ve had different dentists, and finally settled with this dentist (let’s make him dentist no 3). I went there a couple of times to have my teeth examined & to consult with him about my aching molar tooth. Food got stuck easily there, and I felt weird sensation. But every time I went there, he always said: Your tooth is absolutely fine! There is nothing wrong with it!
And yesterday, I had the most dreadful toothache in that particular upper molar tooth of mine. The pain wouldn’t go away even after 18 hours. I could barely sleep. So I scheduled an appointment with a new dentist, doctor Mahanani Hendrasih (a young, smart, & beautiful dentist who happened to be a member of MR Chorus). She examined my tooth and & had a dental X-ray done very quickly. After some vigorous drilling, Maha put a dental camera close to my upper molar teeth, and there in the TV screen I saw an unbelievably DEEP & DARK hole. I swear to you, it was REALLY deep, I couldn’t even see the bottom! It’s as if I could bungee jump through the hole!
The drilling continued for long, till it got too painful for me (of which she has warned me). That’s when Maha knows that it couldn’t be directly mended. The hole was too deep, and it has reached the nerves. I had no option but to have the nerves deadened with a medication. I’m scheduled to come back in a couple of days from now, and my teeth should be ready for further treatment then.
How could my 3rd dentist not know of this bungee jumping-height teeth hole? Had he found out earlier, I wouldn’t need to have my gum nerves deadened (and that’s said to be better for your long-term tooth health). With a bunny tooth & a teeth hole that deep, I feel like my teeth are into amusement park business!
After the treatment with Maha, I felt instantly better! How she has really saved my day! I’m a very happy patient. I’m glad to have found Maha as my dentist! If any of you is looking for a good dentist, I’d highly recommend doctor Mahanani Hendrasih. (Terogong Raya 22a, just next to the Hampton Park Apartment, Jakarta Selatan).
Do take a good care of your teeth, people! For they are some of your greatest assets too!
