Symphonia Vienna from Vienna, Austria, performed in our concert hall last Sunday (January 18th, 2009). They performed “Concertino in Ancient Style” for Two Harps & String Orchestra (Maciej Malejcki), with Hans-Peter Manser as their conductor. Julia Reth was the 1st harpist, and also performing with them as the 2nd harpist is none other than our very own Rama Widi (Indonesian renowned young & talented harpist).
It was a very enchanting performance they gave. Beautiful beautiful music. Everyone was positively mesmerised. Rama Widi played very well too, and I’m sure that all of the audiences were very proud of him. How can we not be? He has a rare talent & determination that not everyone possesses. And in a relatively young age, he has achieved and contributed so much. He’s a real asset to Indonesia, I must say. If you’d like to learn more about him, you may visit his personal site.
After the opening concert, they then proceeded to the master classes. There were more than a hundred of students enrolling for different instruments master classes (string, woodwind, and harp). I noticed how everyone was very eager to learn during the process. With so many lovely music being played at the same time from different classrooms, It was certainly a delightful Sunday in Music Républicain!
