A Worthwhile Week

Hi peeps, how have you been?

I just spent a whole week in Surabaya for teaching in the university. My teaching schedules were pretty much full to capacity. Some last-minute changes & coordination required  me to prepare for new materials, hence the reason why I’ve stayed up late working in my study room every day during the week. I’m very happy to find that in all the classes I’ve been in, my students were very enthusiastic, fully engaged, and highly cooperative. They gave me their full attention, asked valuable questions, and completed their group assignments very creatively. So I’m very pleased there :)

On Saturday afternoon right after class (yesterday), I directly drove to meet up with my primary-school bestie (whom I haven’t seen for 13 years!). I remembered the last time we met was in my 12th birthday bash. She now lives in  LA, and happens to be visiting Surabaya. It’s quite hard to believe that even after loosing contact for 13 years, we still enjoy each other’s company as much as we did back then in primary school! She’s now running a business in the Japanese Food industry in LA, and I’ve learned about sooooooooo many interesting stories from her! Ladies and gentlemen, meet my all-time bestie, Eliana Murdiyanto (see pic below). Oh look, we’re even wearing the same colour!

Afterwards, I dashed home for a quick shower & change, and got ready for my good ol’ friend’s (Sam) 26th birthday bash. I didn’t always have the chance to celebrate his birthday with him in person, so yesterday was a very special occassion.

There, I also got to meet many other friends I haven’t seen for quite a while.  Some of them live in Bali and Banyuwangi for work, and were spending their weekend in town for Sam’s b’day.  I had soooooo much fun catching up with them, I laughed all nite long that I could feel a cramp-like contraction in my cheek :D. I must also say that I really admire them for their hardwork & courage & passion. Their work ranges from seafood export, energy, fabric, gold, puddings, disney products, capoeira, and many others! You bet they also have tons of interesting stories to share!

I flew back to Jakarta with the earliest flight today, and headed straight to our school (which is open on Sunday too, FYI). I’m feeling fully recharged and all ready for more work! :)
